IG dye house was the largest office building of its time, just when Pentagon in Washington was erected, a larger was in existence.

IG dye was the largest chemical complex on earth. They worked closely together with Nazi-regime and were part of the Holocaust, so the US-troops occupied the building in 1945 and for next 50 years it became the high command of US-army in Europe, the "European Pentagon" as it was called.

When Americans left in 1995, the University of Frankfurt moved in and erected "the beautiful campus of European continent" - as they say: start is in front of the building.
