Your bespoke tour will visit up to six wineries in the Elgin wine region. Whilst lunch is to your own account, your wine guide will recommend and arrange a lunch venue for you. The Elgin region has around 800 hectares of vines divided among 16 farms, most of which are conveniently close to each other making for easy visiting. Their wines are, quite simply, somewhat different from their 'lowland' neighbors. They benefit from the region's cooler terroir with an elegance and finesse that typifies handcrafted wines. The old days of apples after apples and more apples in the Elgin Valleyare giving way to a fresh, vibrant approach to wine-making. From an educational perspective, the full-day experience will also provide an opportunity, subject to availability and prior appointment, for you to take a cellar tour, meet with the wine maker, assistant wine maker or viticulturist to get a personal perspective on the winery and its wine as well as the uniqueness of Cool Climate Vineyards of the Western Cape. Your guide will discuss the itinerary with you prior to embarking on your tour in order to take into consideration your wine preferences. The option is available to modify the program as you travel.
