About this activity
After disembarking your ship at the Freeport cruise port, hop aboard your transfer vehicle for the ride to Taino Beach. Just 20 minutes east of the cruise terminal on the south coast of Grand Bahama, Taino Beach is an off-the-beaten-path stretch of soft white sand where you can enjoy a few hours in the Bahamian sunshine.

Upon arrival, pay the entrance fee and then spend your time on the beach however you wish. Go swimming in the turquoise water, or rent rafts or snorkeling equipment. Beach chairs and umbrellas are also available for rental.

If you’re not into water activities, simply stretch out on the sand and work on your tan. If you get hungry, food and drinks are available from a beachfront restaurant.

When your time is up, you’ll be driven back to the cruise port. Note: All rentals, food, drinks and the beach entrance fee are at your own expense.

If you want a low cost, easy day trip to the beach this is a good choice. After a very minor bit of confusion about the meeting point/time between two different tours at the cruise port, we were picked up by a very friendly and jolly driver named Uncle. As we drove the 15-20 minutes to Taino beach he jabbered on about the island, the different landmarks, and asked about the eight of us in the van. Once we got to Taino Beach and paid our 3 per person fee we were pleasantly surprised that the beach was nearly empty so we picked a spot close to the beach, rented two umbrellas for 10 each for the day, and enjoyed the beach day. The water was great, beach was clean, there was food and drink available for purchase, and a number of water sport rentals. The locals were there trying to sell their goods, but they were not overbearing. The only negative was that the snorkeling was not very good, but we did see a number of small to mid size fish and a large stingray. By about noon there were maybe a couple of hundred people at the beach. As promised Uncle was there to pick us up a little early. On the way back we stopped at a little candle store to shop for ten minutes. They had candles, shirts, hot sauce, rum cake and all of the normal island souvenir stuff. He delivered us back to the cruise port with plenty of time to spare. Uncle was the type of guy you didn't mind giving a tip to as he was friendly and just enough goofy to make the van ride interesting. If we return to Freeport we wouldn't hesitate to do this again. I definitely recommend the morning pick up due to the small crowd and it was HOT in the afternoon. Good choice.

The beach was nice-kind of rustic, but it did have bathrooms, Changing rooms, showers, and food. Admission was only $3.00,included in the price of the trip. Chairs and umbrellas were very reasonable, also snorkels d kayaks etc. The bus had no brakes however driver compensated well. Take a taxi.
