About this activity
Your adventure begins on pickup when your certified guide conveys the rich history of this destination during a narrative drive to East Grand Bahama your diving location Rocky Creek. Rocky Creek is a local settlement in the section of the Island call East Grand Bahama. A short drive to the back of this settlement takes us to an ecosystem known as a Mangrove Swash-land, this is an ecosystem of water and trees. Here we gear up for our amazing diving adventure. To explore this blue hole we must first take a 5 minute swim through this ecosystem with their many roots reaching through the shallow water creating a home for many marine animals and pushing its trees that can grow 70 feet tall above water thus creating a home for many species of birds. During our swim we will find both mature and juvenile marine animals as we make our way to Rocky Creeks blue hole. Upon our arrival you will find a hole that is about 30 feet long and 5 feet wide with its entrance less than a foot from the surface of the water and Mangrove trees sitting on top of the hole, fish swimming in and out of the hole attempting to scatter on our approach. A short penetration opens to a room that is about 40 feet in diameter a vertical drop. At different levels of descent we find different depths and different diameter rooms deeper than the first. However, this is not about a cave penetration, but an interest in the marine life within reach of sunlight. You will be amazed of water clarity and the amount of life during your dive. You can max out around 90 feet, but the biosphere is less than 50 feet in depth. After this exhilarating adventure, we move on to lunch. Our destination is a little family owned restaurant call Virgys takeout in a local settlement call High Rock. After a short drive about 30 minutes we arrive at a quaint little restaurant in a pretty local settlement. Here we will enjoy a delicious meal of local style cuisine cooked to the taste buds of a local mama. Then we drive through the settlement of High Rock after lunch and stop at a local bar on the beach call Bishops. Sit back and enjoy a beautiful beach view while drinking some local beer, before the return to your place of lodging.
