Travel through an oasis of date palms to Fujairah Fort and learn more about the history of the area at the Fujairah Museum. Stop at the 15th-century mosque in Al Aqah and climb the hill to reach the remains of the old Portuguese watchtowers.

Get some time for lunch and a swim at a beachside hotel in the Gulf of Oman, and then return to Dubai via the arid canyons, wadi landscapes and small town of Masafi, where you can browse the craft stalls at the daily market.
