Day 1: Negombo - Benthota - Hikkaduwa

Stop At: Bentota Beach, Beach Rd, Bentota, Sri Lanka
The town of Bentota has in store plenty of serene and stunning beaches. Out of which Bentota beach is one of them which greets the tourist with swaying coconut trees and picturesque landscapes. It is indisputably an ideal place for nature lovers where they can indulge in recreational water sports including swimming, diving and snorkelling

Stop At: Kosgoda Turtle Care, Kosgoda Sri Lanka
One of the must include Bentota things to do is the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery. It is a haven for sea turtles and tortoises where the eggs are gathered and preserved until they are hatched. A project named ‘Turtle Hatchery Project’ was introduced with the objective to conserve these species and enhance their survival. The total cost charged for an adult is one hundred whereas no fees are charged for a child.

The Hikkaduwa National Park consists of a network of fringing reefs around the southern area of the island, specifically near the city of Hikkaduwa. The Hikkaduwa beach is a popular destination for both locals and tourists and the reef is a wonder all in itself. The best times to visit the reef would be when the water is clear and there is less chance of storms, particularly between the months of April and November. Snorkeling and scuba tours are the most common excursions here while one can also charter glass-bottomed boats.

Day 2: Hikkaduwa - Galle

Stop At: Galle Fort, Church Street, Galle 80000 Sri Lanka
The earliest records of Galle trace back to its mention in Ptolemy’s World Map in the 2nd century AD.
It is said to have been a busy port trading with some of the biggest powers of that time; such as Greece, Arabia and China.
Galle is also mentioned in records of the 6th century traveller Cosmas Indicopleustes as a port of call of the ship Levant during his visit to Sri Lanka.
Another historically famed traveller, Ibn Batuta who lived in the 14th century also mentions having passed through the port on his visit to Sri Pada and Tenavaram Temple which were then some of the most famous sites of Sri Lanka.

Stop At: Galle Fort - Flag Rock Bastion, Galle 80000, Sri Lanka
Flag Rock, at the southernmost end of the Fort, was once a Portuguese bastion. Today it is easily the most popular place to catch a sunset. During daylight hours you may see daredevil locals leaping into the water from the rocks. Numerous vendors sell good street food such as fresh papaya with chilli powder from carts.
During the Dutch period, approaching ships were signalled from the bastion atop Flag Rock, warning them of dangerous rocks – hence its name. Musket shots were fired from Pigeon Island, close to the rock, to further alert ships to the danger.

Stop At: Galle Fort Lighthouse, Rampart Street Galle Fort, Galle 80000 Sri Lanka
The port of Galle dates back to the time when Arab traders sailed to China in search of eastern riches. Galle was their last haven before crossing the Bay of Bengal. Perhaps one of the earliest recorded references to Galle comes from the great Arab traveler Iban Battuta, who visited the port, which he calls Qali, in the mid 14th century. Galle was central to the spice trade route.
The Galle lighthouse is situated inside the landmark Galle Fort. It is built seven meters above the road on the ramparts.

Day 3: Mirissa

Stop At: Whale Watching Club, Harbour Rd, Mirissa, Sri Lanka
Come watch, study and photograph the largest creatures on earth, the Whales at Dondra Point in Mirissa, a destination famed for some of the finest Whale and Dolphin sightings in the world.
Mirissa situated in the southern coast of Sri Lanka is the closest point to the continental shelf and on the migratory route of Whales as they move closer to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, primarily to breed.
Take an exciting yet comfortable boat trip out to sea and be fortunate to see Blue Whales; the largest creatures on earth, Bryde’s Whales, Sperm Whales, Killer Whales and Fin Whales. You can also meet pods of friendly Dolphins such as the Common dolphins, Bottlenose dolphins, Spinner dolphins, Risso’s dolphins and striped dolphins as they playfully somersault and dance on the ocean waves. There’s also a good chance of seeing flying fish, turtle, manta rays and even sharks.
