About this activity

This 5 hour small group shore excursion will allow you to visit Gdansk. The roundtrip transfer from the cruise port is included in the tour price. Your English-speaking guide will be waiting for you outside the main port gate. After the check-in procedure you will be able to broaden your horizons concerning the history and customs of the Polish city of Gdansk. You will learn how significant this city has been not only in its country's history but in the world's too.

See the Old Town of Gdansk and the splendid Oliwa Cathedral. The cathedral is well-known for its 5100 pipes, and for combining Baroque, Rococo, Renaissance and Classical art masterpieces. Its construction dates back the 12th century.

During your drive to the Old Town get ready to capture numerous photos of some of the significant historical landmarks which date back to the 20th century.

Upon your arrival to the Old Town, you will proceed exploring the city along its central street and see the Golden Gate and the Green Gate. Your guide will be excited to tell you the history of the latter, and explain why it is called green, even though it is of a brown color. Get inspired by brick buildings, of which St. Mary's Basilica is the most distinguished one. You will be surprised to learn that Gdansk (originally Danzig) was the hometown of the world' famous physicist D. G. Farenheit. Your guide will lead you along the street where the inventor of the temperature scale used to live.

At the end of the walking tour you can relax and spend some time on your own - you are free to do some shopping, have a cup of coffee or keep exploring the town. Do not forget to come to the meeting point at the appointed time to be picked up to the ship.
