Wheelchair Accessible Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial from Krakow

About this activity
Your driver collects you from your Krakow city center hotel at 8:30am in a specially adapted car with approved ramps and safety locking systems: each car has space for one wheelchair user as well as five standard seats. You'll be assisted with getting into the car and becoming safely secured for the 1.5-hour drive through the countryside to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial & Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On arrival, your driver assists you to exit the vehicle. Enter Auschwitz through the gate still chillingly inscribed 'Arbeit macht frei' and join a 3-hour guided tour of the site. At Auschwitz I and II many former barracks and administrative museums have been converted into memorial galleries that are home to moving exhibits. You'll be able to access only a few of these areas as, for sake of authenticity, the site has not been modernized.

Next, you'll transfer over to Brzezinka (Birkenau), where you'll see the crematoria, gas chambers, and ramp, as well as some wooden and brick barracks. You'll be able to pay tribute at the Monument to the Victims of Fascism, which commemorates the 1.1 million people murdered here by Nazi Germans.

Finally, you'll return to Auschwitz main entrance, board your vehicle, and travel back to your hotel: should you need a restroom, the site has a disabled facility. You should arrive around 3:30pm.
