Great visit to the Castle, Chaplin Museum and Montreux. Castle is a must see in the region.The views of the vineyards are spectacular.
The guide and driver were wonderful and every stop was great! Our favorite stop was Chaplin's World. This museum is the most different one we have ever been in. He was a film star and every room had running movie loops, display of scenes with wax figures, actual clothes and props used in the set. Enjoy hearing Charlie Chaplin speak and great you. See private home movies, visit his private music room office where he wrote music, wrote scripts and played his violin and piano. Loved it!
Excellent day out but would have liked a little more time in either Montreux or at the Castle but I guess you cant have both with the time constraints. Difficult to cover the whole castle in 45 mins.
First off, be sure you book the gold tour. You get a lot more for your money doing that. Since entrance into the attractions is included, it also saves you time in line. Individuals who didn't book the gold were given the option on the bus and everyone ended up upgrading. I'm not sure if that is standard so I would book the gold tour from the beginning. I thought this was a very well-structured day. I felt there was sufficient time at each stop. I would've liked more time at the castle but that is because I like castles. Even so, I didn't feel rushed there either. I don't know anything about Chaplin, and I'm not a fan. However, I enjoyed the museum very much. The postings in English were helpful. I learned a lot and found it so interesting that I now plan to read his autobiography. Montreux was absolutely gorgeous and worth the trip for that alone. I walked the waterfront as well as the streets off the water and enjoyed all the scenery and shops along the way. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful. The boat trip to the castle added to the trip. Again, gorgeous and relaxing. There are not enough adjectives to describe Switzerland's beauty. I take day trips on all my vacations. This was one of the best.
There is no open air trolly ride of the wine producing area. I stead the bus stopped at a picinic table and the guide opened a couple bottles of wine, and they provided some dried meat and gas station sandwiches. Additionally we only spent one hour at the chateau, which was a let down.
