Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Pass By: Cattedrale di San Lorenzo - Duomo di Genova, Piazza san lorenzo Piazza San Lorenzo, 16123, Genoa Italy

enoa succeeded in preserving the charm of its

typical historic shops as only few other Italian cities managed to do, making them an essential part of its tourist attraction. This tour can be a special and unique experience to discover colors, tastes and fragrances of the

Genoese old city centre.

The historical shops are at least 100 years old and tell the stories of families who with passion pursue their commercial activities based on the high-quality Italian products. The shops are a treasure, they belong to the “Albo delle Botteghe storiche” (professional register) and they are located next to the main monuments that you can admire during the tour. Here's a sample itinerary with the shops you will visit:
- A famous chocolate factory closed to Palazzo Ducale: this patisserie has remained unchanged with the XIX machines to grind hazelnuts and toast cocoa beans.
- A 1930's small shop that is still enchanting and smells nice from spices, extracts, colonial perfumes, a lot of qualities of tea and coffee.
- Barber Shop (1908) a jewel of Art Deco decorated in 1922. It has been owned by FAI (Italian Environment Fund).
- An 1802's shop in front of Saint Lawrence cathedral, with the original furniture, the same family has always sold fabrics, especially the ‘Mezze’ typical printed cotton cloths.
- An 1899's shop, today it sells luxury clothes, but it still maintains an amazing Deco style, a special new-vintage warehouse, and an old loom.
- A famous tripe shop (1890) with the characteristic ‘ronfò’ (rumford fireplace) and copper pans where every morning the tripe is cooked also today.
- A typical macelleria (1790) an elegant butcher shop in the medieval slaughterhouse with a monumental marble sculpted counter.
- A Poultry Shop (1932) has been run by the family Parodi for three generations. There are antique utensils like a rare device to check the freshness to the eggs.
- Pastry shop (1827) The Profumo family had passed down the secret of classic pastry-making and is located in one of the Palazzi dei Rolli (World Heritage Unesco).
- The factory of Cork (1855) This family business continues today from the time of Garibaldi who used to be a customer.
- A wonderful art nouveau shop (1899) window for the famous ties worn by the Duke of Windsor, Guglielmo Marconi e Gianni Agnelli.
- An ancient pharmacy (1906) a charming art nouveau cherry bure furniture with a precious collection of pharmacy jars, mortars, and scales.

At the end of your tour enjoy a typical ‘focaccia’ tasting paired with local ‘aperitivo’ or cappuccino.
