About this activity

Poggio dei Gorleri is a member of The Grand Wine Tour: an Association of the finest wineries across Italy offering exclusive wine tastings, boutique hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants & unique activities dedicated to wine lovers and a luxury clientele. TGWT Mark of Excellence is the very first Italian certification of quality distinguishing high standards in wine tourism hospitality.

The estate was established in 2003 thanks to the Merano family's passion for wines, passed down through generations, and their historical connections with the western Ligurian coast. Under the guidance of Davide and Matteo Merano, the Poggio dei Gorleri estate has quickly expanded its vineyards and experience, finding a winemaking identity between innovation and tradition.

Today, Poggio dei Gorleri cultivates over 11 hectares of vineyards - spread across the municipalities of Albenga, Diano Marina and Pieve di Teco - using sustainable winemaking techniques. Research, audacity, attentiveness and respect for the soil have allowed the estate to create wines that enhance the western Ligurian coast's native grape varieties: pigato, vermentino, granaccia and ormeasco. These grape varieties are expressed in the wines produced by the estate, all of which are typically Ligurian: Riviera Ligure di Ponente Pigato D.O.C., Riviera Ligure di Ponente Vermentino D.O.C., Ormeasco D.O.C., and Riviera Ligure di Ponente Granaccia D.O.C.

Poggio dei Gorleri wines represent a compromise between tradition and innovation and reflect the utmost respect for Ligurian soil, from the vineyard to the cellar, where technology is used only to preserve the grapes' intrinsic richness.

The estate currently produces 6 different wines, totaling about 80,000 bottles per year:

  • Cycnus, Riviera Ligure di Ponente Pigato D.O.C.
  • Albium, Riviera Ligure di Ponente Pigato D.O.C.
