The Dipkarpaz village is the gateway to North Cyprus’ north east peninsula and resembles the Mediterranean of old, and is one of the intact parts of Cyprus. It is peninsula's largest and most remote village, where Turkish and Greek Cypriot still lives side by side just as they have done for hundred years. A mosque sits next to an Orthodox Church overlooking the main square.

Pilgrims whom seeking cures for their afflictions believed to healing effect of the monastery's spring. The Apostolos Andreas Monastery is situated almost at the end of the Karpaz peninsula. It is named after St Andrew, who was a follower of John the Baptist, and was the first to be called by Jesus Christ to spread Christianity. It is a place of reverence both for Turkish and Greek Cypriots.
