Stop At: Hopetoun House, South Queensferry, Edinburgh EH30 9SL Scotland

Hopetoun House, used for the filming of many of the French scenes, in particular, the Paris bedrooms in Season 2 and the Duke of Sandringham's residence in Season 1. We stay here for 1 hour and a half including time to have some lunch and the excellent Stables Tearoom onsite.

Stop At: Linlithgow Palace, 9 Kirkgate Sulisker, Boghall, Linlithgow EH49 7AL Scotland

Linlithgow Palace, is only a short drive away from the train station. The Palace, built by James the 1st of Scotland, became a favourite Royal Stuart Palace until James 6th of Scotland whose mother, Mary Queen of Scots was born at the Palace in 1542. For Outlander filming, it played the part of Wentworth Prison.

Stop At: Callendar House, Callendar Rd, Falkirk FK1 1YR, UK

The house is a council run property and has a vast array of exhibitions and educational facilities. We visit just for the kitchen which was the filming location where the Duke of Sandringham loses his head in Season 2. Aside from the Outlander connection, there are costumed guides on hand to explain how the kitchen once was in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Stop At: Drummond Castle, Muthill, Crieff PH7 4HZ, UK

Our last stop on the day is at the Drummond Castle Estate where you can visit the gardens, made famous in Outlander as the gardens of Versailles. The gardens are beautiful, and for anyone interested in gardening, flowers and plants, it is a fabulous experience, especially if the weather is favourable
