Stop At: Museum Of Christian Art, Convent of Santa Monica, Velha Goa, Goa 403402, India

The Museum of Christian Art is the only one of its kind in Asia and our next halt in this South Goa Museum tour. This visit brings alive the richness of Indo-Portuguese Christian Art from Goa. Every object displayed in the museum reflects the immense wealth of the Churches of Goa. An interesting aspect of the collection is that many were made by local Hindu artists! During the Portuguese times, the demand for the religious artwork was extremely high and the exhibits could not be shipped from Portugal. To make up for the demand, Hindu artists were contracted to complete the religious artworks.
