Stop At: Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa Road, Goa Velha 403402 India

We will begin the History walk at Basilica of Bom Jesus, and move on to other sites like St. Catherine Chapel, St. Francis Assisi, Se Cathedral, Viceroy's Arc, St. Cajetans Church and many more.

There will be also short ride to diwar island and back by a ferry boat to see the panorama view of the UNESCO Heritage Site of Old Goa.

Stop At: Chapel of St Catherine, Old Goa, Taleigao East of Archaeological Museum, Panjim 403002 India

This chapel is dedicated to St. Catherine and is built of laterite stones with a tower on either side of the church facade of St. Francis of Assisi. This is a small chapel which is in the interior of this church, and has a plain altar.

This chapel owes its origins to Alfonso De Albuquerque who built this church when he took possession of Goan territory on St. Catherine's Day in 1510. This was later rebuilt in 1552 over the existing remains of the earlier structure and was enlarged by the then Governor, George Cabral who inscribed a stone slab inscripting the entry of Alfonso De Albuquerque who captured Goa from the Muslim rulers on St. Catherine's Day in 1510 and thus built this chapel.

It is located west of the church of St. Francis of Assisi. The status of this chapel was later elevated to that of a Cathedral by Pope Paul III owing to a Papal Bill passed in 1534 A.D.

Stop At: Viceroy's Arch, Old Goa Near OLD Goa Church Complex, Goa Velha 403402 India

Established in 1599 by Viceroy Francisco da Gama, the Viceroy’s Arch is made up of laterite and green granite. The archway was once the main street for entering Old Goa. The arch was built to commemorate the memory of the famous explorer – Vasco da Gama. The arch is embellished with an imposing statue of Vasco da Gama on the river side and with the statue of St. Catherine on the other side. The original arch collapsed in 1948 and was rebuilt in 1954.

St. Cajetan Church also known as the Church of Divine Providence is a church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Goa and Daman located in Old Goa. The church was completed in 1661 and is part of the World Heritage Site, Churches and convents of Goa.

The Sé Catedral de Santa Catarina, known as Se Cathedral, is the cathedral of the Latin Rite Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Goa and Daman and the seat of the Patriarch of the East Indies. It is located in Old Goa, India.

Stop At: Gateway of the Palace of Yusuf Adil Shah, Mandovi Waterfronts Inside the Compound of St. Cajetan's Church, Next to Viceroy's Arch, Panjim India

The Adil Shah Palace Gateway is located close to the Church of St. Cajetan in the Old Goa area. This palace is the only last remains of a beautiful palace, which was built during the supremacy of Yusuf Adil Shah Khan. The palace was constructed under the rule of the Sultan of Bijapur, Yusuf Adil Shah Khan, and he was also the last of the Muslim rulers of Goa. The architecture of the palace is the blend of the Muslim as well as Hindu architecture. There is a horizontal lintel which rests on the pillars and those have been decorated with molding and the pillars even have fragmentary perforated screens towards the outer side.

The palace was demolished in 1820 and was later on also the residence of the Portuguese Governor until the year1696. There was a three meter high gateway which was built using basalt. The palace was located close to the waterfronts of the Mandovi river.
