About this activity
Day 1:

Private transfer from your hotel in Sultanahmet in Istanbul. Flight to Nevşehir or Kayseri. In the morning, meet your guide at either the Kayseri airport or Kapadokya airport then board an air-conditioned coach.

Start the day visiting Devrent Valley also known as Imagination Valley, one of the most surreal looking landscapes in Cappadocia.

The next stop will be Pasabagi, also known as Monks Valley where Christian hermits chose to build Hermit Cells and Churches. These 3 headed Pinnacles symbolic of the Holy Trinity make it possible to see all stages of the fairy Chimneys.Next, proceed to Avanos the Pottery Center of Cappadocia, the village is set on the banks of the Kizilirmak/Red River. The River gets its name from the Red clay deposits, here you can watch the potters at work using the traditional kick wheels, a technique that has remained unchanged for generations.

Lunch is served in a local Restaurant. After lunch, continue to the Goreme Open Air Museum. Import Byzantine Cave churches are found in these once remote Valleys where Monks and Nuns pursued monastic life the 3rd Century. Here, you will see the preserved Byzantine Cave wall paintings and Frescos from the Iconoclastic period through to the end of the Selcuk Rule. Icons with scenes from the Old and New Testament can be seen above portraits of Saints and Church Fathers depicting the Structure of the Byzantine Period. End your day with a view of Uchisar Castle, this tall Rock is the highest point of the Goreme region.

Overnight in a Cave Hotel

Day 2: Balloon ride. Back to the hotel. Enjoy breakfast in your hotel and start the full day Cappadocia tour. Start with a leisurely 4km walk along the Red & Rose Valley. The Valley is famous for the fabulous volcanic rock formations and is in the heart of Cappadocia, yet away from the mainstream tourist sites. The relaxing walk will end in Cavusin Village where you will see a Rock Castle and Troglodyte dwellings where people lived until the 20th Century.

Lunch is served in a Local Restaurant. After lunch, descend towards the center of the earth with a trip to the Underground City of Kaymakli. Kaymakli is one of the largest and deepest Underground settlements in Cappadocia. The City is approximately 40m deep and contains all the rooms commonly found in Underground Cities, Stables, Cellars, Storage rooms, Refectories, Churches and wineries.

On the return you will visit Pigeon Valley where you will have spectacular views of Dovecotes, Old abandoned Cave Homes and Old Greek houses. Finally, stop in Ortahisar to see Ortahisar Castle the biggest mass of fairy Chimneys in Cappadocia.

At the end of your tour transfer to the Kayseri airport or Kapadokya airport. Flight back to Istanbul Ataturk Airport and private transfer to your hotel in Sultanahmet.

This is a must for any traveler, visitor, photography enthusiast, who plans a trip to Cappadocia to make sure they get on a balloon ride especially the sunrise ride The balloon ride is etched in our memory ! The views are breathtaking and to die for - with 100s of balloons taking off as the sun rises, then weaving their way thru valleys and the rock formations - ending the trip on the high note with a glass of champagne! Our tour operators HTR Tours have been very flexible and accomodating, always prompt with their replies - special thanks to Pinar Ulutas for being available when we were stuck with our transfers We had the privilege of Jazi (JC) as our your guide, she has been one of the best tour guides we have met, her knowledge of history, geography and local culture is unique. We wish he all the best as she embarks on the next phase of her Journey - Thanks once again JC
