About this activity
Visit: Mundo Aborigen, Carretera Fataga Km 6 Parque Natural de Ayagaures, 35108 Fataga, Gran Canaria Spain

• Theme park with more than 120,000 square meters.
• Discover the life of the old settlers of the island of Gran Canaria.
• Declared as a place of historical, social and cultural interest.

Mundo Aborigen is a theme park, located in the Natural Park of Ayaguare, in the massif that leads by the road of Fataga, 6 km away from Maspalomas, where it offers a reconstruction of the pre-Hispanic culture in an aboriginal settlement in form of a village, with a large number of figures in real size, arranged in everyday scenes as well as a variety of animals.
Inside Mundo Aborigen, you will find a large number of endemic plants and a small Archaeological Museum.
It has more than 120,000 square meters and its route is perfectly signposted in four languages: Spanish, English, German and French. You will have explanatory panels through which you can discover what life was like for the ancient settlers of the island of Gran Canaria.
The Guanches is the generic name used to refer to the ancient settlers of the Canary Islands. However, it can be said that this term refers only to the aborigines of Tenerife. Each island had its specific name and in Gran Canaria they were called canarii or canaries. Each island had its king or monarch. In Gran Canaria in particular, it was the Guanarteme.

The aboriginal population on the island was estimated to be over 35,000 individuals.
An important fact that is known, is that the first settlers had completely lost their knowledge of navigation, which meant that each island developed culturally differently from the others.
The whole area has been declared a Place of Historical, Social and Cultural Interest by the Government of the Canary Islands.
