Step onto your specially designed whale-watching catamaran and set sail from Hervey Bay.
Listen to an expert's commentary as you head out to sea and scan the water for whales. See whales in their natural environment from a choice of two vantage points. Watch from inside the boat through the underwater viewing windows, or head to the boat's unique outdoor platform for unforgettable views.
Your air-conditioned catamaran is equipped with hydrophones so you can hear the whales sing, and the multilingual staff can provide whale information in six languages.
Smaller kids keep busy with toys and activities provided on board, and you can take home a free whale-watching DVD.

The Viator team on board were really friendly, Specifically Catie always with a smile and helped with so much information about Harvey Bay and Fraser Island. This is the second time we did the whale watching tour and will come again next year.
We'd been on whale watching tours before - specifically looking for Orcas off Vancouver Island, Canada. This Hervey Bay Tasman cruise was a whole different ballgame and a whole level up in both professionalism and overall experience. From the moment we boarded to the point we left the boat, everything was handled so well - including getting involved in the annual Hervey Bay 'blessing of the fleet' festival - an amazing coincidence and experience. The boat crew were incredibly knowledgeable, knowing where to locate the various pods of humpback whales and during each encounter providing detailed and professional commentary throughout. Think we learned more about whales in general in one afternoon than we'd ever known before. Each pod encounter became ever more special, culminating in multiple 'surface breaches' and a 'fin slapping' session at sunset - some lo-res pics posted here to give you an idea! Whales and commentary aside, if you like free food and drink then the crew provided everything needed to keep both hungry folk happy and kids entertained too if needed. In summary, a superb highly professional outfit offering one of the best encounters with these magical creatures as you're ever likely to get.
