About this activity
Your day trip begins with a pickup from your hotel in Guadalajara. Travel with your small group on a 1-hour drive to the world-famous town of Tequila, one of the only places in Mexico where the national drink can be produced. When you arrive at the Jose Cuervo Distillery, you’ll have VIP access to the Cuervo family’s private cellar—a unique experience that’s only available with this exclusive tour.
Established in 1795, the original Jose Cuervo Distillery is one of the most famous in this UNESCO World Heritage-listed region. Each day, the facility processes blue agave into 80,000 liters (20,000 gallons) of tequila, and you’ll have the opportunity to observe the elaborate production methods.
Sample the finest tequilas with three different tastings direct from the barrel. Your guide will provide a historical overview of the distillery, in the Cuervo family for generations, and inform you about what distinguishes each taste. If you’ve chosen to upgrade your tour, you can customize and create your own bottle of tequila. In the family's private cellars, fill a 750-ml bottle with tequila from one of the finest barrels, with the opportunity to design and personalize your own label!
In the afternoon, dine on a delicious gourmet lunch—a 3-course meal to delight the senses. Choose between three Mexican specialties per course, such as mole, tamales and enchiladas. Once you’re satiated with drink and local fare, your guide will take you on a 1-hour coach tour of Tequila. Starting from the town center, hear a brief overview of the town's history, including its main church. Afterward, enjoy plenty of free time browsing the shops and handicraft stores before returning with your small group to Guadalajara around 6pm.
