Kaiping Diaolou, located in the territory of Kaiping under the jurisdiction of Jiangmen, Guangdong Province, is a special type of local architecture in China, is a multi-storey tower building which integrates defense, residence and Chinese and Western architectural art, and is characterized by a variety of styles such as Ancient Greece, ancient Rome and Islam. June 25, 2001, was approved by the State Council to be included in the fifth batch of national key cultural Relics Protection Units list.

Since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Kaiping is located between Xinhui, Taishan, Enping, Xinxing four counties, for the "four regardless" of the land, bandits rampant, social security chaos. And because of coupled with many rivers, when typhoon and torrential rain, frequent floods, the local people were forced to build towers in the village in order to protect themselves.

In the late Ming Dynasty Chongzhen 17 years (AD 1644), bandits often harass the people, in order to protect the safety of villagers, Lu's fourth son, Guan in the village of the well built a Ruiyun building. The building is very strong, there are two functions: flood control and anti-theft, when a flood outbreak or Sanko disturbance, the village in the well and adjacent to the three villages of the village villagers to the Ruiyun building to avoid. The historical function of Kaiping Diaolou is mainly "to avoid bandits", which has played a small role in protecting the safety of their relatives and villagers ' lives and property.
