About this activity
7:00am to 7:30am Check in at Duran Train Station
Durán Train Station is located across the Guayas river, about a 12 to 15 minute drive from hotels located in downtown Guayaquil. Please note that you must bring your printed ticket or have your ticket saved on your mobile to present at check in. You must also bring an ID.
8:00am Departure to Yaguachi
You will board the panoramic train and head to Yaguachi. In this short stop (30 minutes), you will visit the San Jacinto de Yaguachi Cathedral with an English speaking guide and learn about this temple built in 1844 by San Jacinto de Cracovia.
10:40am Arrival to Naranjito
Upon your arrival to Naranjito, you will be greeted by the team of Hacienda La Danesa and introduce you to the local artisans who work with banana tree fibers to make traditional handicrafts.
11:00am Welcome to Hacienda La Danesa
After a short drive (10 minutes) from Naranjito Train Station to Hacienda La Danesa, your English speaking host will be expecting you to welcome you with a traditional snack and cold infused drinks.
11:30am From Bean to Bar Chocolate Making
After a short walk to the cacao plantation for an introduction to the chocolate industry, we will go back to the farm house and go through the whole process and start tempering the chocolate! Once you have tempered the chocolate, each guest will start crafting his own chocolate bars or barks.
1:00pm From Farm to Table Three Course Lunch
La Danesa offers a truly unique gastronomic experience inspired in a Farm-to-Table ethos. It grows and produces most of the ingredients at the farm, while buying the rest from the neighboring communities. The chef will offer a three-course meal with a few options for the main course for you to choose from. Special diets welcome.
2:30pm Coffee/Tea and Milking in the Gardens
La Danesa produces around 1,200 liters of milk every day and had won for 20 years in a row the best dairy cattle in coastal Ecuador. One of our loving cows will visit us in the gardens and share some of her milk with us. If you want a Café au Lait you will have to take the espresso straight to the cow's udder for fresh warm milk!
