About this activity
Natural magnificence and all within easy reach of Guilin; the city has earned its place as one of Chinese finest destinations when looking for jaw-dropping beauty in whatever direction you travel. When going back in history, and with its highly attractive landscape, Guilin has had the honour to be one of the first places in China opening up for tourism, dating back since 1949. As its city planning may look like a hodgepodge of architectonical styles, the nearby meandering Li River, leading to the historical town of Yangshuo, surely will leave you wanting to sail and see much more.

An early morning pick up from your English-speaking guide and driver is required to make sure you max out your day of sightseeing and getting a feeling of the immense popularity of Guilin and its surroundings. The morning starts with a leisurely 40-minute drive away from the city and into the direction of the embarkation point along the Li River. The morning will be reserved just to admire the landscape, left and right from your seat aboard a joined cruise; mountain peaks, lush green areas and the calmness that will cast a relaxing spell over you as soon as the captain sails away into direction of Yangshuo. Many of the karst formations are, with a little imagination, reminiscent of animals and objects, with names such as Elephant Trunk Hill, Sword Cut Cliff, Reclining Flower Vase Hill and more. As the beautiful scenery passes by, showing similarities of typical Chinese landscape paintings, on board, the crew will prepare lunch for all its passengers.

Disembarkation will be at the quintessential vacation town of Yangshuo. Like Guilin, which is just to the north, it offers stunning scenery but with much less traffic and fewer crowds. With that amount of nature between Guilin and Yangshuo, you are bound notice that there is some adventure to be found here and you cannot be more right than that. Chinese unofficial adventure tourism capital with outdoor activities as diverse as rock climbing, kayaking, caving, bamboo rafting and bike riding all offered right here, thus the more reason to return and book some action! Our afternoon is a getting-to-know this great little town with West Street being the aorta of shopping and eating-minded visitors, entwined with quirky boutique shops, hotels in renovated traditional courtyard houses and curious Chinese tourists who have come to see foreigners and eat. Yangshuo perfectly blends East-meets-West without forgetting its 1400+ year old historical characteristics.

It is time to head back to Guilin: an approximately 90-minute drive back should have you back in front of your hotel lobby at around 17:00 hrs.
