Day 1: Guilin/Yangshuo – Jiangliu Village – Jiuwu Village

 (Hiking for 6.5km/4.04 miles, 2.5hrs)

Drive from Guilin or Yangshuo northward to a small village named Jiangliu, enjoy pretty countryside scenery along the way. The drive takes normally three hours. The driving roads then disappear, and you start your 2.5-hour long hike from this village until you arrive a smaller village named Jiuwu. When you see chimney smoke rising from the cottages in the distance, there comes Jiuwu Village, a peaceful hamlet on the mountainside. 

Stay overnight in a local farmer’s wood cottage in Jiuwu Village. 

Meals: (No included meals)

 

Day 2: Jiuwu Village – Xiaozhai Village – Dazhai Village

(Hiking for 11.3km/7.02 miles, 4hrs)

Departing Jiuwu Village, you hike up and down hill for about 3 hours through the fantastic terraced rice paddy areas before lunch in Xiaozhai Village. It’s a beautiful Yao people’s village. Have a strolling around in the village after lunch. Then keep hiking to Dazhai village in about 1 hour or 1.5 hours. Stay overnight in a guesthouse in Dazhai village. To wander around in the village to get to know more about Yao people's life, to have a cup of tea to recharge your energy or to have a Yao style foot massage will be the options for you to enjoy the rest time of the day. 

Stay overnight in Dazhai Village. 

Meals: (Breakfast)

 

Day 3: Dazhai Village – Ping’an Village – Guilin

 (Hiking for 12.9km/8.03 miles, 5hrs)

Hike for about 5 hours from Dazhai to Ping’an village. You pass through some Yao people’s villages, such as Zhongliu Villazge, viewing terraced rice paddies and people working there all the way. You will be suggested to have a late lunch in Ping’an Village which is a Zhuang people’s village. (If you get hungry early, you can of course have an earlier lunch in a village before Ping’an.) Enjoy your free time in this exotic village before being picked up by your driver in the afternoon. 

A 2.5 hour drive will take us back to the city of Guilin (one more hour to Yangshuo). Your three-day hiking ends when you are back to your hotel.

  • Please note that, for some parts of this hiking tour, public toilets are not easily available. You may use the very basic local outhouses in the village or just bush to meet your toilet needs. Please always carry toilet paper by yourself.
