A Day in Gyeongju

1 day
About this activity
Enjoy a historical day trip from Busan to Gyeongju, a city filled with deep rooted religious history and world heritage sites

Located in the southeastern part of South Korea, Gyeongju is filled with heritage sites and antiquities. Witness the glory of a past dynasty by immersing yourself in an ancient culture embodied in relics such as Buddhist temples and sacred stone carvings. Start by visiting Seokguram. As part of the Bulguksa temple complex, it features some of the best Buddhist sculptures in the world. Next, visit the Bulguksa Temple, head temple of Korean Buddhism encompassing seven national treasures of South Korea. At noon, fill up on a special meal of vegetable bibimbap, a Korean classic. Next, you’ll visit Anapji, a palace site used to hold national events for important visitors, followed by a trip to Cheomseongdae, the oldest astronomical observatory in the world. The final two destinations include Cheonmachong, a tomb excavated in 1973, and Yangdong Village, South Korea’s largest traditional village. Now that you’ve seen all that Geyongju has to offer, relax on a shuttle bus ride back to Busan.
