About this activity
Begin your tour at your hotel to meet your guide and get ready to get through at the incredible archeological complex of Akahanga, a village nearby where we can understand how the village was arranged in relation to the ceremonial centre or ahu. The moais are on the ground, just like they were left after being knocked down during the tribal wars

Heading the North coast of Rapa Nui we arrive at Rano Raraku, one of the most amazing places in the planet. Rano Raraku houses the quarry where the moais were built and from where they were moved to the ahu (ceremonial platforms) in the island. Near 1041 statues were built in this quarry, 400 of which were left on the volcano hillside in different manufacturing and carving processes, including some that in the modelling process were wasted for different reasons.

Only a few minutes from here get amazed by the most imposing moai platform in the island.; the ahu Tongariki. This ahu represents the island’s sculpture highest splendour period. With 220 metres long, it’s the biggest structure of this nature in all Polynesia.

On route to the North coast you will stop at Te Pito Kura, a ceremonial complex formed by the Ahu o Paro, only moai that has remained in the exact position in which it was left when knocked down. Next to this ahu is a 80 cm rounded stone named the “Navel of the Word” or “Te pito o te Henua”. According to the legend it was brought by Hotu Matu’a on his vessel and concentrates a magnetic and supernatural energy called “mana”

Before returning to Hanga Roa Village we will stop at our last visitation site: Anakena, the long sand beach in the island. However, Anakena is much more than a beach, it’s a complex where the presence of ahu Ature Huki and the Nau Nau, among other sites of archaeological nature and in force cultural practices.
