2 Day Yellow Mountain (Huangshan) Trip from Hangzhou

Day1: Hangzhou——Huangshan （L,D）

In the morning we will pick you at the hotels around 8:00 am and make the 3.5-hour ride to the Yellow Mountain Scenic Area. Arriving at the scenic area, we will transfer to a scenic area shuttle, which will carry us to the mountain foothills where we alight to start our ascent. Ascending there are two routes which we will be able to choose from: the cable car route (roughly 12 minutes); or the foot trail (roughly 3 hours). Both lead to the Yuping (‘Jadescreen’) Building, from which one can see the famous ‘welcoming pine’ and the first sweeps of gorgeous Huangshan mountain scenery.

At the Jadescreen Building we will rest and reorganize before beginning along one of two main mountain peaks routes (peaks routes open for climbing one-at-a-time): Lotus Peak, which is known for varied and spectacular scenery, or the Peak of the Heavenly Capital, an adventurous and adrenalin-filled climb.

After scaling the peak, we continue forward, passing over the ‘head of the 36 small Huangshan peaks, Aoyu Peak, also stopping along the way at the best scenic outlook platform on Huangshan. Continuing on, we walk the hundred-step cloud ladder before passing along a stretch of sky to arrive at the White Cloud scenic area. Here we set up camp. At sunset, if visibility is good, we’ll move to a good vantage point to watch the sunset.

Day two: Huangshan——Hangzhou (B,L)

On a clear morning, those wishing to view a Huangshan sunrise rise will need to rise at 4am and head to the Guangming Apex (specific times vary based on time of year and position of campsite). Early morning, we will pick up and descend on the Cloud Valley Temple path (via foot or cableway). Sometimes, after rain on Huangshan there occurs a certain odd light phenomenon，known as ‘Buddha’s light’. Seeing Buddha’s light is considered a sign of good luck to come.

Coming off the mountain, we’ll enjoy lunch in the foothills. After eating we board the private vehicle and return to Hangzhou.
