About this activity
At 9:00 in the morning we gather at Hangzhou's Jingci temple near Lei’feng Pagoda. Setting off, we will avoid the bustling crowds gathering at the door to the Pagoda, instead moving toward a set of doors opposite, the entrance to Jing’ci Temple. Here we taste ’Roast Vege-Goose’ – known almost universally among the locals. While it’s still steaming you’ll munch and wander your way about the temple grounds, stopping for customary prayers for fortune in the Mahavira Hall
At 10:40 we depart Jing’ci Temple, following the verdant Yang‘gong Causeway until Maojia’bu where we slip further away from the West Lake crowds onto the Shang’xiang Pilgrim’s Trail. New sights fill every step on this gorgeous characteristic Jiang’nan trail walk.
By 11:30 we will have walked by the pilgrim masses gathering at Ling’yin Temple’s gates to find our next destination – the Temple of Dharma Cleanliness, renowned for Zen Tea practices. We’ll let you in on the local tea-lover’s secret: head over to the side of the temple to receive the monastery’s spring water. Tea made with this water is a different experience entirely!Buy the temple’s specialty Orchid bean marinate, snack, and continue on. Arriving at the Upper Tian’zhu Temple of Fa’xi in the afternoon. For centuries Chinese rulers have made the journey to Fa’xi as it’s long been rumoured that prayers made here are actually effective. It’s here, in the monastery hall, that we will sit to a meal of Buddhist Alms. You won’t be disappointed – this is said to be the best Vegetarian cuisine to be found in all of Hangzhou!
At 15:00 , contented we retreat from the temple grounds into the Hangzhou Buddhist College at Fa’yun Village, finally walking a beautiful mountain path to compete our Vege-cuisine city walk.
