2-Day Private Trip of Futuo Temple Culture and Life Experience from Hangzhou

Itinerary

Day 1: Hangzhou - Futuo Temple

Stop At: Futuo Zen Temple, Yuhang, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China
Your private guide will pick you at the train station or hotel at 9:00 am and then board transport bound for Futuo Temple (45 mins driving distance from downtown Hangzhou), slip into Buddhist robes and are brought through to our sleeping quarters. After taking a moment organize your space and settle incomes your first temple meal; as the midday sun wanes, we join with the master monk, wandering the temple grounds to learn Buddhist etiquette and some of the things that make this temple special - as well as some details about the historical development of the Buddhist practice in China. Zen cultivation will begin after an evening meal. Under the master’s guidance, we will sit for quiet meditation, being instructed on the thought and method behind meditative cultivation. Will you be able to find that serene corner of the mind that belongs to you and only you? Fingers crossed Buddha may help you find that part of yourself.

Day 2: Futuo Temple - Hangzhou

Stop At: Futuo Zen Temple, Yuhang, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China
In step with the monks, rise at 5:30 am and prepare for your morning lesson. Surrender to Buddhist song and settle your soul; after breakfast return to nature and to self under a clear morning sky; afterward moving to transcribe the archaic characters of ancient Buddhist sutras. The calligraphy brush is China’s traditional writing instrument – can you conquer it? Afterward, we will enjoy our last lunch as monks before ending our experience and returning to Hangzhou.
