About this activity
Kenh Ga floating village and Phat Diem Cathedral. (1day) (-/L/-): Car

8:00 a.m: Leave the hotel at Hanoi.

About 10:30 a.m arrive Kenh Ga (91km). Take a boat trip on the Hoang Long River as it winds through verdant rice fields and Karsts Limestone Mountain to see Kenh Ga (Chicken Canal) floating village.

Set on the banks of the Hoang Long River, Kenh Ga Floating Village is a remarkable place, not only because it is surrounded by the same massive rocks that dominate Hoa Lu, but also because for most of the year the entire community lives on the water itself. The floating village of Kenh Ga receives relatively few visitors compared to nearby Hoa Lu and the peoples' aquatic way of life has changed little over the centuries. The area is known as one of the most rural area in the Red River Delta. It offers a combination of unrigged countryside landscapes, traditional rural lifestyle and well-known friendly local folk. Touring the area would be really relaxing and fascinating as you are seating in a rowed-by-feet boat with scenes of people fishing, children rowing boats to school, simple houses clinging to limestone cliffs, etc. along the canal.

11.30 a.m: From the village, you can enjoy Kenh Ga Hot Spring. The source of Ga Kenh longstanding but it was not until 1940 that she was discovered by French researchers. Subsequently, Vietnamese scientists have found that it is a mineral responsible for many elements, particularly sodium chloride, magnesium and potassium, calcium and bicarbonate. A stable temperature of 53oC, it is a "medical treasures" used in the treatment of several diseases such as: rheumatism, skin diseases, neuropathies ... and recovering the health. Water from a resurgence of this accessory is hot spring bottling.

12.00: Back to harbor, enjoy lunch at local restaurant.

1.00 p.m: Go to visit Phat Diem Cathedral.

Phát Diệm Cathedral is located in Kim Sơn District of Ninh Bình Province. Phát Diệm church architecture is a cross between Vietnam and Europe. Phat Diem Stone Church was designed and constructed (1875 - 1899) by father Pedro Tran Luc. Phat Diem's architecture is a sucessful combination of oriental pagodas and Gothic Church, which comprises lake, atrium, cathedral, 4 chapels, stone church, man-made cave.... Remarkable, mother Maria's heart Church is called as Stone Church, because all its parts were made of stone: wall, beams, windowns, towers and columns, etc.
