About this activity
Night 1: Hanoi - Lao Cai
Your trip starts with an overnight train journey from Hanoi to the border town of Lao Cai. Your tour guide will collect you in Hanoi and take you to the Hanoi train station for the night train which departs at 21.55. Night train: 4-soft sleeper, A/C and a shared cabin.
Day 1: Trekking In Sapa (L/D)
The train will arrive at Lao Cai train station at approximately 06:00. There will be a vehicle waiting to transfer you to Sapa. The drive to Sapa is only 33 km, but it takes around 1.5 hours. Once in Sapa, you will check into a hotel (early check-in subject to availability) and eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant. You are then free to enjoy exploring the town. You will commence your journey from Sapa, initially by car, to the hill tribe villages of Lao Chai, home to the H'mong ethnic minority community. As you walk on past the villages nestled in the valley below Sapa, you will meet some of the local minority people on their way to and from Sapa and have lunch at a local house. You will then trek through terraced rice fields from Lao Chai to Ta Van village of the Giay minority people. In the village, you will have the opportunity to share cultural experiences with the local families. You will return to Sapa Town by car in the late afternoon where you will have dinner and spend the night in the hotel.
Day 2: Climbing In Fansipan (B/L/D)
After fueling up on breakfast at the hotel, you will start the trip to conquer the roof of Vietnam and Indochina: Fansipan Peak. At about 09.30, you will take a bus (17km) to Tram Ton Pass, the highest pass in Vietnam located at 2,100m above sea level. You can visit the Silver Waterfall en route. Enjoy the wonderful scenery and then begin the strenuous trek to the peak. After roughly 6 hours of trekking through the primitive jungles, across the numerous small streams and bamboo forests, you will have climbed to about 2,200m, the point at which you pitch your tent, have dinner and spend your first night on the mountain.
Day 3: Fansipan Summit - Sapa - Hanoi (B/L)
You will have breakfast at the camp and then head for the summit by way of pine and yellow bamboo forests. After an arduous 4-hour climb, you will finally conquer the roof of Vietnam and Indochina. Spend up to one hour enjoying breathtaking views of the splendid rolling mountains, the small villages of Lai Chau Province and the picturesque town of Sapa. After you have lunch, you will descend the mountain to Sin Chai Villageof the Black H'mong. You will then travel to Sapa for the night train back to Hanoi.
