About this activity
Your private city tour, as described below, can be enjoyed on Day 1 or Day 2. If you would prefer it to take place on the second day, please make a note in the 'Special Requirements' field when you book.
Day 1: (D)Check in to your Heidelberg hotel in the afternoon, and then head out on a 1.5-hour private walking tour to get acquainted with the history-laden sights of the city. The oldest university town in Germany, Heidelberg has a bounty of landmarks both in and around its baroque Old Town. See the Old Bridge, Heidelberg Town Hall and the Church of the Holy Ghost. Learn little-known facts about plazas like University Square and Market Square, and have your camera ready for a wander along Hauptstrasse, Germany’s longest pedestrianized street.
After your tour, make use of some free time to enjoy the city at your own pace. Why not use your HeidelbergCard to take the funicular to Heidelberg Castle? The half-ruined hilltop fortress towers down over the city, and its views make the steep trip to the top oh-so worthwhile. Back down in the town, shop for souvenirs or use your time to explore. In the evening, enjoy a 3-course dinner in an Old Town restaurant, and then return to your hotel for your overnight stay.
