Even in the well-known locations, there are always hidden stories; devil is in the details! Our stories and anecdotes will make the locations we visit come alive. You will slowly start understanding how the locals think-walk-talk and why? We will walk in and around Helsinki city center and see both the main attractions and the lesser known but historically and culturally important parts and locations. These alternative routes will show you Helsinki city life from a local perspective.
We will start at Aleksantarinkatu and visit the Senate Square and important buildings designed by the German architect Engel (Helsinki Cathedral, the Government Palace, the main building of the University of Helsinki and the National Library of Finland). Then we will walk through the Tori Quarters, walking past the City Hall and the Presidential Palace. After we visit the Uspenski Cathedral, we will stroll through the Market Square, take a look at the beautiful Old Market Hall, then continue to the famous Kappeli located in Esplanadi Park. We will continue through the Design District, walk on the main boulevard Mannerheimintie, visiting Amos Rex the latest addition to Helsinki’s museum catalogue, and the newly opened central library Oodi. After these beautiful locations we will stop by the Rock Church and then make our way back to the Central Railway Station where we will finish our tour.
