The partially restorted Knossos is the largest of Minoan palaces and dates back to 2000 B.C.Excavated in the early 20th century by the great English archeaologist Arthur Evans, the ruins are in more than 1000 pieces with the throne of King Minos still intact. Next you will visit Heraklion, Crete's capital and largest urban center, where you will enjoy a 40-minute performance in an open-air stone theater.You will learn about ancient Minoan traditions, rituals and deities, and then imagine these habits, traditions and customs coming back to life, giving you a vivid idea of the Minoan rites and cultural events that ocurrred more than 4000 years ago.
