Lassithi Plateau is located in a peaceful and fertile region, it is surrounded by the wild mountains of Dikti and several smaller plateaus. The altitude ranges from 800 to 850m, making Lassithi one of the few residential areas in the Mediterranean at such high altitude. Zeus Cave It sits at 1540 metres above sea level. It is a very large cavern to explore and an inner sanctum. Kritsa is a traditional village with old houses and narrow streets on the Lassithi (Dikti) mountains. From many vantage points throughout the village, there is the church, Panagia Kera to see the wonderful frescos painted in Byzantine times. Agios Nikolaos the small picturesque town where you find one of the two sweet water lakes of Crete.
