If you are looking to see a large portion of Big Island, this is the tour to go on. The path takes you to many interesting places and see amazing things that are not located anywhere else but Big Island. While the tour itself is fantastic, what really made it special was the tour guide. We were lucky enough to go with Kala Holiday. Not only does he know the island very well, but he knows a lot about Hawaii's history and its mythology. In addition he tells it in a way that pulls you in, and keeps you entertained and engaged the entire time. He does his job so well that, at many of the stops, the other visitors would follow us just to hear him talk about the site. I would definitely recommend this tour and try to schedule it when Kala can lead it. You will not be disappointed.

Our guide Keith was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He kept us on a schedule so that we would hit the tour highlights at exactly the right time. There was a progressive "WOW" buildup during the Volcanoes National Park visit so that each site and view of the caldera got better and better. The star gazing was fantastic despite the cold (yes cold in Hawaii). It's a lot of driving around in the van but you get a sense of much of the island.

Unfortunately, this was not what we expected. Although Chris was knowledgeable, entertaining and accommodating, with the exception of seeing the lava flow, this was nothing but a long, long ride around the island with dinner at the military mess hall. Do not recommend.

Kris or Chris was an interesting guide. He states he is half Hawain and half Portuguese. He appears to have recieved a BS in vucanology from a university in Idaho, and taught 8th grade science in the school he went to as a youngster in Hawaii. He appears to be quite knowledgable. Kris bewgan the day as quite the friendly fellow. Somewhere in the middle of the day, he began to become curt and surly. The food was marginal. Kris was upset by the time we arrived at dinner and concerned that his grandmother would scold him if the group did not behave just right. By the end of the day he was driving 20 or more miles an hour over the speed limit looking under the stearing wheel at the road ahead and not communicating at all. He was clearly upset but unwilling to say about what. The places we wnt were great. I have some wonderful pictures both of the scenery and the other people on the tour as we took pictures for one another. The group was great. At the end of the day I was quite happy to get out of the bus with Kris in it. The fellow tourists were fun and friendly.

Great tour with professional and very nice guide Chris who is one of the best guides I have met. The tour covers nearly all must-see attractions in Big Island and the arrangement is good. Will definitely recommend this tour to friends playing visit to Hawaii.
