Stop At: Shukkei-en Garden, 2-11 Kaminobori-cho, Hiroshima Hiroshima Prefecture
After coming to the store、change into your favorite kimono from more than 100 types. The staff will help you get dressed.
You can stroll around Shukkeien Garden while wearing a kimono. As an option an English-speaking guide will show you around in the garden. Shukkeien Garden was created 400 years ago in the time of the samurai and it's said that it contains in its landscape various sceneries in shrunken form. You can deeply feel different sceneries such as a tea house, a pond, a paddy field, mountains, a bamboo forest, a tea garden and a pergola. Even though the garden has received serious damage from the atomic bombing, it has now recovered. Please enjoy, dressed in kimono, the Japanese garden brimming with history.
After this, please enjoy the Japanese cultural experience taught by an expert teacher. Please choose 1 from the following 4 experiences.
①Tea ceremony experience
Enjoy a laid-back tea ceremony experience. After watching the tea ceremony demonstration of the teacher, try to make tea by yourself as well.
②Calligraphy experience
Spiritual unity through the smell of ink. Why not feel the hearts of the Japanese by learning about the meaning included in the characters? You can also come in touch with the tools related to Hiroshima such as a Kumano brush and Otake Japanese paper.
③Shakyo (Handcopying of sutras) experience
Choose from the 'Sange-course' where you will copy a sutra on Japanese writing paper in a flower petal shape or the 'Shabutsu-course' where you will copy Jizo, the guardian deity of children. It's an easy style where you'll cover the sample with Japanese writing paper and trace the lines.
④Incense experience
Choose your favorite color and scent from various options and make your own incense just like kneading paper clay. If you will make it flat you can use it is as a scented insert (to enclose with a letter) as well.
After the Japanese cultural experience, you will change clothes and that's the end of the experience.
