About this activity

Tay Ninh province is approximately 90km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. While most visitors to Vietnam know about the vast tunnel complex and underground fortress, fewer people know the history and significance of the beautiful Black Virgin Mountain and the Cao Dai temples nearby. This entire area and these sites are revered by the Vietnamese people, and have held an important place in their history, religion and hearts for centuries.

Depart your hotel with guide and travel in a private car to Tay Ninh province. Mid-morning arrive at the Black Mountain in Tay Ninh province. Visit Ba Den pagoda by cable car. The view is breathtaking, and you will be surrounded on both sides by mango trees and woodland flowers. Nui Ba Den (The Mountain of the Black Virgin) has a unique aura of power and mystery. It is a green tree-covered mass of granite that rises 3,000 feet up out of the rice fields and jungle and into the clouds. There are two more pagodas above the main pagoda. If you want to hike up even higher, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Tay Ninh province.

At noon depart the Black Mountain and then visit Cu Chi tunnels. On the way to Cu Chi you will stop at local restaurant for a spectacular lunch. Spend time touring the tunnels before returning to ho Chi Minh City by early evening.

It was our first tour in Vietnam and we were very lucky to have Joy as our guide. Joy knew so much about the history of Vietnam, its traditions, culture and religion. Her English was perfect, and she was very enthusiastic and thoughtful. Her stories helped to make the long trip seem like a short one. We hardly noticed how the time passed so quickly. If we could have her as our guide for a trip to a different place we would not hesitate to do it. The tour program was very interesting and original. It started at the Cu Chi tunnels. It’s probably the most visited place near Saigon. It helped that we arrived early in the morning, as there were not many people yet. Cao Dai temple was very beautiful. The midday ceremony at the temple was very colourful. Black Virgin Mountain was the highlight of the trip. Rain started when we arrived there. It made the place magical and spiritual. The tour program was really excellent. In addition, the lunch was very delicious, and it was at the place where local families eat. If you can have just one tour in Vietnam, choose Joy as a guide and My Tiger Tour as a tour operator. You will not regret it and will fall in love with this country and its people.

Rain started when we arrived at Cuchi, Our charming guide, Maia, immediately took out a raincoat for me -- a great service. Another happy surprise was picture taking for the whole day. When we think of time and energy needed for this, we have to thank Maia and her agency for their thoughtfulness. This tour is really interesting, cultural and worth going. Its success greatly depends upon the personality and experience of Maia, whose English is very fluent. The beautiful scenery of countryside is unforgettable. Excellent introduction to the history and tradition of Vietnam.
