About this activity
Please note, this is the private version of our popular "Craft Beer Walk & Talk" and the following itinerary can be modified. Just let us know what changes you'd like to make!

Meet your new drinking buddy (a local craft beer expert) outside the Starbucks New World (or at your hotel if you are staying in District 1) and embark on a stroll that covers four places to drink craft beer and bring you up to date on the rapidly growing craft beer scene in Vietnam. Your first stop will be the stunning East West Brewing Company to try two of their beers and get an exclusive look behind the scenes at the only craft brewery operating in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. There you'll learn about the process of making beer and the ingredients that are used.

From there, you'll walk a few blocks passing through the famous Benh Thanh Market to visit the very first craft beer tap room built in Vietnam on nearby Pasteur Street and learn about the history and culture of beer-drinking in Vietnam while enjoying two more craft beers. In the heart of Saigon, you'll walk by some landmarks and the finest examples of French colonial architecture like Ho Chi Minh City Hall, Hotel Continental, and the Saigon Opera House. Don't forget to wave back to "Uncle Ho" as you walk by his smiling statue in the bustling Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street!

The next stop is a craft beer bar that's frequented by just about everyone in the craft beer industry and was the first of its kind - a bar dedicated to featuring craft beer - in Vietnam! Inside, it's a place that feels far from downtown Saigon and serves as a haven for ex-pats looking to escape the heat and traffic. Here, your beer expert will introduce you to four of the original craft beer brands in Vietnam. Call it a taste of recent brewing history.

A short walk later, past an old opium refinery now filled with restaurants, you'll find Heart of Darkness Craft Brewery's 3-level tap room. With 20 of their own beers on tap, this bar offers something for everyone - from light pilsners to deep dark coffee stouts - and is a great place to learn from your guide where the craft beer scene in Vietnam is headed over a couple of their best brews. Being the final stop on the Craft Beer Walk & Talk, many beer geeks stay here long after the tour to enjoy a meal, catch some live music, a comedy show, or participate in a trivia night depending on the day of the week.
