Day Trip Experience in Mekong Delta
After a morning pickup at your District 1 hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, depart for Cai Be by car or minivan via the Trung Luong Express Highway. You'll stop to take photos in Tan An town overlooking picturesque rice fields.
After a 2.5-hour drive, you'll arrive in Cai Be and set off by motorboat to visit Cai Be Floating Market. Observe locals trading tropical fruit and many other commodities aboard their vessels, and visit a small family business to see how coconut candy and crispy rice popcorn are made. Then wander into small villages and visit an orchard and fruit plantation, accompanied by traditional southern Vietnamese folk music.
Continue your cruise to Vinh Long through a series of small canals and experience the charms of the Upper Mekong Delta. Arrive in Tan Phong Island, a 'green pearl' where you can immerse yourself in nature. During a cooking lesson you'll learn how to prepare Vietnamese dishes. Fresh river food is served in the heart of the garden.
Relax in the hammocks to get back your energy. Then hop on a bike and pedal around the village path lined with fruit orchards and a bonsai garden. Meet the local islanders and learn more about daily life in the Mekong Delta.
By late afternoon, take a boat ride back to Cai Be and meet your bus for the trip back to Ho Chi Minh City.
