4-Day Cruise Expedition of Southwest Tasmania's World Heritage wilderness On-Board MV Odalisque from Hobart

4 days
About this activity
Escape to Port Davey is a multi-day tailored adventure cruise which takes you deep into the pristine coastal wilderness of Tasmania’s remote Southwest. Your journey begins with a spectacular flight from Hobart to Melaleuca. Upon landing, crew will take you by tender through the mirrored waters of the inlet to your floating home, the base from which you will explore the untouched South West.
Expeditions are based from a ‘boutique floating hotel’, the Odalisque, a custom-built twenty-metre vessel equipped with hot showers and soft beds. Guests are entertained by an all-star crew, including skipper, chef & guide. Our guest chefs (borrowed from Hobart’s best restaurants) provide top-notch, modern Tasmanian fare, all paired with fine Tasmanian wine. Our hand-picked expert guides (with years of experience in the area) will double as your personal walking encyclopaedias.
Daily shore excursions, tailored to your interests, will see you totally immersed in the wilderness. It’s all about “getting your feet wet” (as Tasmanian skipper & owner Pieter van der Woude regularly says). During your four unforgettable days with us, you’ll explore narrow winding waterways lined with Huon pine by jet boat, hike to mountain-top vantage points where it feels like you can see over the edge of the world, picnic on remote beaches and soak up the serene views from the Odalisque’s deck as you cruise past sea caves, rock arches, blowholes and rocky islets. You could be one of the very few to witness the islands of Maatsuyker, cruise the Davey River gorge, wander the buttongrass moorlands or beachcomb the white sandy beaches of Mainwaring Inlet, Giblin River, The Shank and Low Rocky Point.
Our expedition cruise vessel is designed for your comfort and safety, purpose-built by Tasmanian owner and operator for this Southwest experience. Offering small group touring at its best, Odalisque has three private cabins, a comfortable entertaining and dining area and a spacious outside deck.
