High Tea at Hawthorn Lodge

High tea at Hawthorn Lodge is served every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11am to 4pm. High tea works well as a replacement for lunch.

Hawthorn Lodge is in the small village of Bushy Park about 45 minutes from Hobart. The drive takes you along the beautiful Derwent Valley passing the town of New Norfolk established in 1807 with it's many antique shops and popular Saturday market. The road provides many views of the magnificent Derwent River.

Once in Bushy Park you enter the hop fields and see the original hop houses. Hawthorn Lodge is at the end of Glenora Road and very easy to see on the right. The history of the hops is available at Hawthorn Lodge and the local community hall has a small hop museum.

Hawthorn Lodge makes a very good stop over if travelling to Mt Field National Park or on your way to Derwent Bridge, Queenstown or Strahan. Mt Field with the famous Russell Falls is 15 minutes drive. So why not take high tea before or after visiting Russell Falls.

There is no rush to take High Tea and served as four courses with endless cups of tea or coffee. The veranda is perfect to sit and watch the birds in the garden. Guests are free to walk around the gardens.

Hawthorn Lodge has a gift shop that features local produce that we make or is made in the Derwent Valley. This includes our award winning raspberry jam made from our own raspberries.
