About this activity

Your 9-hour tour departs from Hobart. Take a leisurely drive down the Huon Highway to Hounville. Stop at the Apple Shed Museum (optional) and Franklin to visit the Wooden Boat Centre (optional). From there take the road south to the Hastings Caves and take a guided tour with a guide that will take you through the largest dolomite caves in Australia. There is also the opportunity to take a dip in the pool, fed by water from Thermal Springs, before returning to Geeveston and to the Tahune Airwalk.

The Tahune Forest AirWalk is situated on the edge of 3.9 million acres (1.6 million hectares) of UNESCO World Heritage-listed rain forest. Choose from a variety of tranquil forest walks or check out the airwalk itself, featuring views of the forest canopy. The cantilever stands at a height of 157 feet (48 meters) above the Houn River so you can experience the best views.

During your Airwalk, explore the numerous walking trails through the forest and two swinging footbridges over the Huon and Picton Rivers. Visit the best known tourism attractions in Tasmania. For an additional fee of A$18, you can experience the Cable Eagle Hang Glider which whisks you 820 feet (250 meters) across the Huon River to stop 164 feet (50 meters) up in the air, before gliding back to solid ground.

You will have 90 minutes to experience various activities offered. Extend your activities for more exploration (at no additional cost), unless there is a deadline which needs to be met (such as a Cruise Ship departure).

You can also journey on a 7-hour tour, which takes you on a direct route to Hastings Caves. Explore the Tahune AirWalk and Hobart, without any other stops along the way. This option has been especially created for Cruise Ship passengers who have limited time.

Land-based customers to provide accommodation details, at time of booking or prior to pick-up, in case we are able to collect them from their accommodation.

We are aware that Cruise Ship passengers need to return to their ship in time for departure. We aim to arrive at least 30 to 60 minutes prior to the stipulated time. Customers should confirm this time with their tour guide on the day.
