We booked a private tour with a guide. First, Theresa driver and alleged guide had no sign with our name on it so my husband went up to several cars inquiring if he/she were our guide. Once he found her, she did'nt have the courtesy to get out of the car to greet us. The car was almost a 'smart car'. Our legs touched the back seat it was very cramped. We could not hear her and asked many times if she would repeat what she said. She had limited knowledge of the city. I asked her who was Macquarie? The ships wharf, Hotel and main street were all named Maquarie She ignored me the first time I inquired and the second time she said she was calling her husband to find out the answer! She drove us up to Mt Wellington but didn't get out of the car, like the other guides did, so we had no explanation of what we were seeing. She provided no history of Hobart which is the capital of Tasmania. We proceeded on to Richmond where she said we could have lunch. This was the first time she left the car. She didn't offer or suggest what was good for lunch she went and got in line without us. After lunch, she drove us to a church and the famous stone bridge in Richmond, again no explanation about the church and fortunately, we had read about the old stone bridge again, she did not get out of the car. She dropped us off at the Museum of Old and New Art and said she'd meet us at the drop off in 1 1/2hr. The museum was our choice as we had been to several wildlife sanctuaries. This was the most disappointing tour as we will not be back in Tasmania again. What we learned, we read. She is definitely NOT A GUIDE.
