Day 1: Hoi An – Hue (-/L/D)

Stop At: Hai Van Pass, National Route 1A, Lang Co 530000 Vietnam
Head to Hue, along the North coast of Da Nang to the top of Hai Van Pass where bunkers remaining from the war can be explored
Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Hue Imperial City (The Citadel), Hue Vietnam
Upon arrival in Hue, we will visit the Citadel, Hue’s prime attraction containing the Imperial City, the Forbidden Purple City and the Emperor’s Private Residence. After our time at the Citadel, we will have lunch before checking into a hotel.
Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Thien Mu Pagoda, Kim Long Road, Hue Vietnam
In the afternoon, we will visit Thien Mu pagoda
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Tomb of Khai Dinh, Thuy Bang Commune, Huong Thuy, 530000 Vietnam

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Dong Ba Market, Tran Hung Dao St., Hue Vietnam
go shopping at Dong Ba Riverside Market. Return to the hotel for the evening.

Day 2: Hue – DMZ – Hoi An (B/L/-)

Stop At: Hien Luong Bridge flagpole, Vĩnh Thành, Vĩnh Linh District, Quảng Trị Province, Vietnam
Start with an early morning pick-up from the hotel in Hue and drive along the coastal area to visit the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). This area is set in the rugged, jungle-shrouded mountains along the Vietnam - Laos border of South Vietnam. Our tour will continue with a trip to Quang Tri Citadel, Hien Luong Bridge and Seventeenth Parallel - the former borderline between North and South Vietnam during the Vietnam War
Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Vinh Moc Tunnel, Vinh Th_ch, Dong Ha 520000 Vietnam
We will then visit Vinh Moc Tunnels, which were used to shelter people from the intense bombings during the Vietnam War and Con Tien Firebase.
Duration: 1 hour

There were only two of us on the trip and it might have been better in a small group. However, the guide, Minh, was very attentive and knowledgeable and we learned a lot over the course of the two days. The accommodation in Hue was much better than expected - lovely hotel right in centre so we could go out in the evening and wander around. The food was generally good - the lunch in the citadel was very interesting and enjoyable. However, the evening meal was a bit of a disappointment: the food was fine but we were the only people in a large restaurant and it lacked any atmosphere at all. Perhaps it was booked for a bit too early in the evening - began to fill up when we were leaving. Comfortable car, very good driver and excellent guide.
