About this activity

Day 1: Hoi An – Hue

After departing Hoi An, we will travel to Hue, with some pretty scenery along the way. On arrival we will visit the Citadel, Hue’s prime attraction, which contains the Imperial City, the Forbidden Purple City and the Emperor's Private Residence. Following the morning activities, we will have a short break for lunch and afterward, we will take a boat trip on the Perfume River with a stopover at Thien Mu Pagoda. Considered by many as the unofficial symbol of Hue, Thien Mu is an active Buddhist monastery with origins dating back to 1601. One of its most poignant displays is a car belonging to a former monk, who in 1963, drove to Saigon and set himself alight to protest against the South Vietnamese regime and its cruel treatment of Buddhist monks and followers. From here, we will go to visit the serene Khai Dinh Royal Tomb, designed to blend in with its natural surroundings and built on principles of feng-shui.
In the evening, you will embark on a journey of culinary discovery by cyclo to explore Hue street food step by step. Dine on delicious delicacies including shrimp soup cake (banh canh cha tom), Hue pancake (banh khoai), filtered tapioca dumplings (banh loc), steamed rice discs topped with shrimp (banh beo) and steamed flat rice dumplings (banh nam). Before ending the tour, stop at a local coffee shop to soak up the atmosphere. Back to hotel. Stay overnight in Hue.

Day 2: Hue – Hoi An

After breakfast, our next destination is located in the countryside, seven kilometers east of Hue; a small, covered, Japanese-style bridge which serves as a local meeting point, named Thanh Toan tile – roofed bridge. The bridge is referred to as the "Japanese Bridge" since it bears some stylistic resemblance to another small wooden bridge in nearby Hoi An. Back to Hue center to have lunch. Before return to Hoi An, walking around Dong Ba market, free time at leisure, shopping, photography and sightseeing.
