About this activity
Depart by minivan from your hotel in the morning or afternoon, depending on which option you select upon booking. Located in the heart of a beautiful valley and surrounded by high mountains that feed the Thu Bon River, My Son Sanctuary was developed over a period of 10 centuries.
When you reach the UNESCO World Heritage site, follow your guide on a walking tour around the impressive tower-temples — remains of the political and religious capital of the Champa Kingdom. Admire the structures, which were originally built with wood, then restored in the 7th century with locally made brick after the temples were completely destroyed by fire one century earlier.
By the 13th century, more than 70 similar temples had been built, establishing My Son as a sanctuary of Hinduism in the Champa Kingdom. As you marvel at sandstone bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, learn about the My Son civilization’s devotion to Hindu deities like Krishna, Vishnu and Shiva.
After exploring the delights of My Son Sanctuary with fascinating commentary from your guide, head back to Hoi An, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.

Husband and I booked morning tour on May 2. Was hoping to start early as planned (7.30am) but was told the night before that pick-up time was to be pushed back to 8am to accommodate 2 additional persons in the group. The ride to My Son in the last row of the MPV was very uncomfortable with very limited headroom and legroom. However, fortunately or unfortunately, because the driver drove very fast, we were able to get there in about 45 minutes. It was a hair-raising ride with quite a few near misses when the driver kept driving on the opposite direction of the road. However, our guide "Thai" saved the day. He was most attentive and professional. The trip to My Son became a very enriching experience because of his in-depth knowledge of the place and history behind the ruins. He was also an excellent communicator. He literally made history come alive for us! We highly recommend this tour. Just a tip to share: We skipped the cultural show and went to the first ruins cluster to take photos before the crowd descended on the place after the show. Our guide joined us after that to give us the guided tour.
Tour guide was an arrogant little turd. Tour could have been done a lot better!
Pouring with rain, should have been cancelled
Great tour with a very fun and knowledgable guide. Did feel a little rushed though and would have liked a little more time to take in the scenery.
Excellent tour with our guide Eric! He was very informative and engaging. It was nice to have the morning tour, before the place got too busy with other tour groups. Overall a great experience for our group!
