About this activity
If there's one activity you do while you are in Hawaii, THIS Honolulu snorkel tour is it! Just outside the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, Honolulu lies a place turtles call home. We simply call it turtle canyon. Here we see these gentle marine creatures in all their glory. Snorkel and watch the live turtle car wash. With daily turtle sightings, Hawaii snorkeling tours are sure to delight visitors of all ages. You can even see the turtles from the boat if you don't want to snorkel. On the way back, enjoy the peace, quiet and serenity of the ocean while sailing back to the harbor. During the winter months, whale watching in Waikiki is also possible during the sailing portion of this tour. During this Honolulu snorkel tour, you'll also have an opportunity to see corals up close. Coral reefs are ecologically-sensitive ecosystems that provide a home to about 25% of the planets marine species. While corals might initially appear to just be colorful-looking sea stones, they are in fact, sea creatures themselves. Many corals are actually colonies of polyps that secrete calcium. Corals are sensitive to water temperature, so, as ocean temperatures rise corals are increasingly threatened. On our tour that allows you to snorkel with turtles in Hawaii, you'll have a chance to spot and swim with green sea turtles. These turtles are found in seas around the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Green sea turtles are known for their unique nesting practices. When the time comes for the female to lay her eggs, she will walk onshore, dig a hole, and lay her eggs in the sand. Later, hundreds of hatchlings can emerge from these nests, though many of them are taken by predators before arriving at the waters edges. While many of the young turtles will not survive, some can live as long as 80 years and weigh up to 500 pounds. Green sea turtles are at risk due to many reasons. In some areas, they are hunted, while in other areas, water pollution has caused their food sources to become toxic. On our Honolulu snorkel tour outside Waikiki, you'll have a unique opportunity to see these rare creatures up close and even swim among them.
