Even though the weather was not perfect, it was a perfect day. We were lucky to be only two participants and to have Chester as our guide. Everything was easy and super well organized, on time and relaxed. We were picked up on time and before actually going to Taroko gorge Chester took us to visit a former Shintoism shrine which had later been turned into a Catholic Church. Very interesting a start. Arriving at Taroko gorge all was prepared and we hiked up the trail. Chester found the rights speed for us and he is a very knowledgeable person. On the way he will be able to answer every question you have, be it Taiwanese history, culture, nature or anything else. He will show you the characteristic plants and tell you about how they got their names, whether they are edible or poisonous, or whether you can use them for any certain purpose. The same applies to animals of all sorts. And Chester will not only tell you, he will have materials and pictures of the animals with him to show to you. Really superb! And if you are lucky, Chester might even sing a Taiwanese song to you while having lunch ;). The trail itself does not need a lot of description here, you can google yourselves... So to keep it to minimum here, it is moderately demanding, going up about 700 meters in height. Again, the way Chester did it with us was very moderate and considerate. Up there you need to be able to cope with the height, but it is always secured at the exposed spots. So, a perfect and breath taking day, never to be forgotten. Thank you, Chester!

We were a group of 7, with varying levels of fitness. Jeff did a wonderful job ensuring our safety while keeping us on pace. This hike is no joke....a lot of steep climbing up stairs but it was all worth it at the end once you reach the cliff. Amazing views and while I'm terrified of heights, I would definitely do this hike again!

One of the best hiking trip i've ever had! The trail offers an amazing view of the gorge up close! Credits to the super friendly and sincere guide, William. He gave a very detailed explanation on Taroko and the best part of it, he's treating me like a friend. For once, I felt like i'm on an adventure with a travel companion whom I can count on! Kudos! Travelled on 11 March 2016.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared so much information with us on a wide variety of topics. He was trained in safety and made sure we were kept safe, yet could talk about history, culture, topography etc. A fantastic tour.
