Firstly, drive to Hongcun Village. You can enjoy the ancient Hui Style architecture, one type of traditional Chinese architecture and the breathtaking landscape. Hongcun is a wonderful place to visit, originated during Song Dynasty (960-1276), praised as the most beautiful village in China. It is famous as the ancient village in the Chinese painting. Quite different from other traditional ancient villages in China, the layout, landscape, architectural form, decoration, and construction techniques all retain the original features Hongcun.
Have lunch at the local restaurant.
After lunch and a short rest drive to the nearby destination Xidi Village, Xidi Village is only about 10km from Hongcun and located 40km (25 miles) away from Huangshan Mountain. Xidi Village was listed along with Hongcun Village as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in the year 2000. These two ancient villages are the most representative local-style residences in southern Anhui Province. With a history of over 900 years, Xidi Village is peaceful with a hidden charm to be discovered like in a fairy tale.
Upon arrival, you can see its well-spaced houses with white walls, elegant decorations and black tiles are surrounded by mountains, which makes Xidi an ideal place for paint from life. It's said that, Xidi is a magnificent villager of imperial officers. Currently, there are still 124 well-preserved ancient dwelling with unique style in the village.
Then drive you back to the tunxi down town and visit the Tunxi Old Street. Similar to the Qingming Scroll which presents the lively local life, here in Tunxi Ancient Street, colorful bazaars of local features are displayed in front of your eyes. It is also listed as one of China's Top Ten Historical and Cultural Streets.
In this street, shoppers will enjoy the oldest stores in Huangshan City, some of which have been doing business for centuries. You can buy some beautiful keepsake here, or find the local cuisine in this street by your own.
