Unlike Hue’s other tombs, the grandiose concrete structure, built between 1920 and 1931, is a synthesis of Vietnamese and European elements. Even the stone faces of the mandarin honor guards are endowed with a mixture of both features. The tour ends back at your hotel.

For a first timer in Hue, it's a pretty good introduction. Our guide, Tuy was very informative, eager to tell us the history of his country. We enjoyed the cooking class the most and the lunch as well! The boat ride on the Perfume river was the least interesting. I wish there was time to go to the museums near the Imperial City.
